Objectives

Global consumption of plant nutrient phosphorus continues to demonstrate constant growth, as a result of increasing crop and food requirements of mankind. The Institute's mandate is to enhance that growth by supporting research, organizing and participating in meetings and publishing proceedings, reviews and relevant information, a precious knowledge which it makes available to fertilizer manufacturers, farmers, various national and international organizations and decision makers. IMPHOS objectives are summarized below :

To enhance and sustain growth of phosphate use in both agriculture and industry throughout the world,  whilst minimizing the impact of that use on the environment.
To support research on mineral phosphates (phosphate rock and derived products), for industrial and agricultural applications.
To resource scientific data and technical information on plant nutrient management and fertilizer processing technologies, and disseminate them in a restructured form that can be used by the fertilizer industry, agricultural research and extension services, and ultimately the farmers.
